On July 24, 2026, police officers from the Veles, Skopje, and Shtip Police Departments, in cooperation with the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety (RCRTS) and local institutions, carried out a series of preventive activities aimed at improving road safety and protecting young people.
As part of the "Safe in Summer – Drive Rested" campaign, officers from the Prevention Unit of the Veles Police Department, together with RCRTS representatives, conducted an awareness campaign in the Municipality of Gradsko, reminding drivers of the importance of driving only when well-rested. Officers emphasized that fatigue and reduced concentration are among the leading causes of traffic accidents during the summer months. Drivers were advised to take regular breaks, always wear seat belts, and avoid using mobile phones while driving.
A similar road safety campaign was also held in Kavadarci, where the focus was on raising awareness of the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and ensuring vehicles are technically roadworthy. Educational materials prepared in cooperation with RCRTS were distributed to drivers.
Meanwhile, the Skopje Police Department, in cooperation with RCRTS, organized preventive activities in the Centar and Bit Pazar areas under the themes "Wear a Helmet," "Pedestrians," and "Wear a Seat Belt." The initiative aimed to improve traffic culture, encourage compliance with road traffic regulations, and strengthen cooperation and trust between the police and the public.
In Shtip, police officers from the Prevention Unit carried out a "Neighborhood–Citizen Patrol" focused on youth safety and maintaining public order. Together with representatives of the Municipal Council and the Shtip Center for Social Work, officers visited locations frequently attended by minors, including parks and playgrounds. Young people were encouraged to behave responsibly and respect public order, with special attention given to preventing peer violence, vandalism, and the harmful consequences of alcohol and psychoactive substance use.
Additionally, in cooperation with the Probishtip Center for Social Work and the Municipal Council for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency, a "Neighborhood Mixed Patrol" initiative was conducted. The activity focused on strengthening cooperation between the police and the local community, preventing violence and bullying, and reducing the availability and spread of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances.
