Preventive activities by the Kumanovo, Skopje and Shtip Police Departments to promote road safety, prevent wildfires and vehicle theft

Preventive activities by the Kumanovo, Skopje and Shtip Police Departments to promote road safety, prevent wildfires and vehicle theft

During the weekend, the Prevention Unit of the Kumanovo Police Department carried out several preventive campaigns. At the Pelince Border Crossing, officers implemented the “Drive Rested” campaign, advising drivers transiting through the area to drive carefully, take regular breaks, observe speed limits and traffic signs, and refrain from throwing cigarette butts out of vehicle windows. Drivers were also provided with bottled water and educational materials containing tips for a safe summer, free from traffic accidents and wildfires.

In addition, police officers from the Staro Nagoričane Police Station conducted preventive patrols in several villages in the Kozjak region, as well as at the ASNOM Memorial Centre and the Strnovac Spa recreation area. During these activities, residents were reminded to exercise caution while working in fields with combines and tractors and were urged not to burn stubble, waste or dry grass in fields and yards in order to prevent large-scale wildfires and damage to property.

On 27 July 2026, the Prevention Department of the Skopje Police Department conducted a preventive and educational campaign within the jurisdiction of the Centar Police Station under the slogan “Do Not Leave Valuables in Your Vehicle.” The campaign aimed to raise public awareness of crime prevention, strengthen the safety culture among citizens and enhance trust and cooperation between the police and the community. During the activity, drivers were advised not to leave valuable items visible inside their vehicles when leaving them unattended, as doing so may attract thieves.

Today, preventive campaigns under the slogans “Drive Responsibly – Wear a Helmet” and “Do Not Use a Mobile Phone While Driving” were also carried out at several locations in Kočani and Vinica. Road users were reminded to drive carefully and comply with traffic rules and regulations, while motorcyclists, cyclists and electric scooter riders were informed that wearing a helmet can save lives. Educational leaflets containing road safety advice were distributed during the activities.
