Preventive activities in the areas of the Police Department in Strumica, Štip, Ohrid, Veles, Tetovo, and Skopje for safe traffic and the prevention of the use of pyrotechnic materials

 

Today (December 25, 2025), police officers from the Prevention Unit at the Police Department in Strumica, together with doctors from the University Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, conducted an educational lecture on the topic "Say No to Pyrotechnic Materials" with eighth and ninth-grade students at the primary schools "Sando Masev" and "Nikola Vapcarov" in Strumica. A similar lecture was held on December 24, 2025, by police officers from the Police Station in Gevgelija with students from the high school "Bogdanci" and the primary school "Petar Musev" in Bogdanci, as well as at the primary school "Kiril and Metodi" in the village of Stojakovo, Gevgelija municipality. The students were informed about the harmful consequences that the use of pyrotechnic materials can cause, as well as the legal provisions that foresee penalties for those who illegally sell, acquire, or use pyrotechnic materials. In the Gevgelija area, a preventive activity was also conducted in cooperation with the Traffic Safety Agency, where drivers were given leaflets with educational content on the topic "Celebrate Responsibly, Alcohol and the Wheel Don't Make a Good Pair."  

Additionally, yesterday (December 24, 2025), a preventive campaign "Say NO to Pyrotechnic Materials" was carried out in all primary and secondary schools in Kičevo and in one primary school in Centar Župa. In front of around 600 students from both municipalities, a team of police officers from the Prevention Unit at the Police Department in Ohrid, from the police stations in Kičevo and Debar, along with general medicine and plastic surgery doctors, presented basic information about the dangers of illegal use of pyrotechnics, the possible hazards and consequences of using firecrackers and other pyrotechnic materials, and through interactive communication with the students, discussed the presented topics and video presentations. 

Today at the secondary school "Goce Delchev" in Shtip, at the secondary school "Ljubo Santov" in Kochani, at the primary school "Dedo Iljo Malesevski" in Berovo, at the secondary school "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Negotino, at the primary school "Strasho Pindzur" in Kavadarci, and at the primary school "Pere Toshev" in Rosoman, police officers and doctors held educational lectures with video presentations on the harmful consequences and legal penalties for the illegal use of pyrotechnic materials. Today (December 25, 2025), police officers from the Regional Police Department of Veles, along with volunteers from the Red Cross of Veles and a team from Emergency Medical Services, conducted a simulation exercise in the yard of the "Kocho Racin" gymnasium in Veles, demonstrating injuries caused by the use of pyrotechnic materials—firecrackers. 

During the exercise, students from primary and secondary schools in the city had the opportunity to see for themselves that pyrotechnic materials pose a dangerous risk and can cause severe and lasting injuries and health consequences. The activity is part of the preventive campaign "Safe Holidays, Without the Use of Pyrotechnics" and aims to raise public awareness about the risks and dangers of unauthorized use of pyrotechnic materials, especially among the younger population, in anticipation of the New Year celebrations. 

Likewise, today in the central urban area of Tetovo, police officers from the Prevention Department of the Tetovo Police Directorate, in collaboration with officers from the Tetovo Traffic Safety Police Station and representatives from the Municipal Council for Road Safety in Tetovo, conducted a preventive activity under the motto "If you drink, don't drive; if you drive, don't drink - Celebrate responsibly," during which drivers of motor vehicles were handed out flyers and air fresheners containing informative and educational content. 
Meanwhile, in the area of the Center Police Station and on "Jane Sandanski" Boulevard in Skopje, a preventive activity was carried out under the motto "Pyrotechnics - fun for a moment, deadly for a lifetime."Passersby were given flyers with educational content, and they were informed that firecrackers cause stress and intense feelings of anxiety in both people and animals. It is a fact that a significant number of people worldwide become disabled each year due to the use of firecrackers, with a large portion of them being children.
