From August 3 to 9, 2026, the traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted intensified action controls across the country, aimed at detecting and sanctioning violations related to exceeding the permitted speed.
The controls were carried out as part of ROADPOL Operation Speed, a pan-European coordinated operational activity of the traffic police services of the ROADPOL member countries.
During the operation, police officers continuously monitored and measured the speed of vehicles, with a particular focus on roadways and locations where, according to traffic safety analyzes, there is an increased risk of traffic accidents caused by inappropriate and unadjusted speed.
A total of 1,576 violations related to exceeding the permitted speed were recorded during the controls.
By participating in ROADPOL Operation Speed, the traffic police continue their efforts to enhance road safety, prevent traffic accidents, and strengthen international police cooperation within ROADPOL.
These activities are part of the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to reduce the number and consequences of traffic accidents, increase discipline in traffic, and create safer conditions for all participants in road traffic.
