The Ministry of Internal Affairs informs the public that a large-scale operation is underway, during which a significant quantity of marijuana has been confiscated. Approximately nine tons of marijuana and over 1,300 bottles of produced cannabis oil (intermediate product) were found and seized from a legal entity in Skopje. From legal entities in the eastern region, over 31 tons of marijuana and biomass have been confiscated.
In coordination with the Customs Administration and the relevant Commission for the control of this type of activity from the Ministry of Health, inspections have been carried out at several legal entities whose primary activity is the cultivation of spice, aromatic, and medicinal plants, as well as plants used in pharmaceuticals. In coordination with a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, measures and activities are being undertaken to establish the facts regarding whether the recently seized marijuana in the Republic of Serbia originates from our country.
Given that one of the suspects apprehended in the Republic of Serbia is part of the ownership structure of the legal entity in Skopje, detailed checks and inspections have been conducted on the quantity found at the legal entity and the complete documentation discovered in the premises of the legal entity. Based on the documentation found by the Commission from the Ministry of Health, a report has been compiled, noting a series of irregularities in operations and significant discrepancies regarding the quantities that the legal entity possesses, produces, acquires, and disposes of. In light of the identified irregularities and following a notification from the competent Public Prosecutor, the entire quantity of marijuana found has been seized from the premises of the legal entity. Additionally, inspections have been conducted at several legal entities in the eastern region, where the relevant commission also identified irregularities and discrepancies regarding the quantities that the legal entities possess, produce, acquire, and dispose of, after which the seized quantity was confiscated.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, where a special team has been formed for this and similar cases, will continue in the upcoming period to take measures and actions for the complete resolution of these cases.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will provide a detailed report to the public after the completion of the operation and the full resolution of the cases.
