Today (19 June 2026), the Director of the Bureau of Public Security, Aleksandar Janev, held a working meeting with the senior representative of the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, Ms. Eva Golubitsis, during which they discussed the further enhancement of systematic cooperation in the fields of training, professional development, and the exchange of knowledge and best practices, with particular emphasis on addressing peer violence, domestic violence, and other forms of violence.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that a shared objective is to establish a unified and professional approach by police officers in their initial response to cases of violence, through the integration of acquired experience and expertise into the Police Academy’s curricula, as well as into the system of basic and continuous training.
The participants noted that the Austrian police possess a modern and effective system for educating police personnel, producing professionals guided by the principles of integrity, uniform application of the law, and the protection and respect of human rights. These experiences and practices can be successfully adapted and incorporated into the Macedonian police education system.
The discussion also covered opportunities for support in the development of core managerial skills and the continuous strengthening of leadership capacities at all levels of police management.
The meeting concluded that knowledge, education, and the exchange of experience represent the strongest investment in the future of the policing profession and a key prerequisite for building institutions characterized by high integrity, professionalism, transparency, and consistent enforcement of the law.
The Republic of Austria and the Republic of North Macedonia will continue to foster and deepen their friendly and partnership-based cooperation, founded on mutual trust, sincere relations, and a shared commitment to creating stronger, more modern, and more efficient police services through the exchange of knowledge and best practices, all in the service of citizens.
