Six persons arrested within 24 hours for reckless driving due to alcohol and speeding; one person caused a traffic accident

 

On 10 January 2026 at 10:13, police officers from SVR Tetovo arrested S.Z. (36) from the village of Brvenica on Vidoje Smilevski Bato Boulevard in Tetovo. While taking measures following a previously occurred traffic accident in which S.Z. was involved while driving a BMW with Tetovo license plates, it was established that he was under the influence of alcohol, with 2.11‰ alcohol measured in his blood.

On 10 January 2026 at 21:18, police officers from SVR Bitola arrested S.B. (62) from the village of Jankovec, Resen area, on the Resen–Ohrid main road, near a location known as “Nova Benzinska.” During a traffic control, officers stopped a Golf with Resen license plates driven by S.B., and it was established that he was under the influence of alcohol, with 1.56‰ alcohol measured in his blood.

On 11 January 2026 at 00:20, police officers from SVR Strumica arrested K.Ѓ. (46) from Gevgelija on Gevgelija Boulevard in Gevgelija. During a traffic control, officers stopped an Opel with Gevgelija license plates driven by K.Ѓ., and it was established that he was under the influence of alcohol, with 2.19‰ alcohol measured in his blood.

On 10 January 2026 at 23:00, police officers from SVR Veles arrested M.S. (63) from Negotino at the intersection of Hristo Botev and Aco Adži Ilov streets in Negotino. During a traffic control, officers stopped an Audi with Negotino license plates driven by M.S., and it was established that he was under the influence of alcohol, with 2.15‰ alcohol measured in his blood.

On 11 January 2026 at 02:35, police officers from SVR Veles arrested B.V. (41) from the village of Pepelište, Negotino area, on Marshal Tito Boulevard in Negotino. During a traffic control, officers stopped a Ford with Negotino license plates driven by B.V., and it was established that he was under the influence of alcohol, with 1.87‰ alcohol measured in his blood.

On 10 January 2026 at 16:50, police officers from SVR Veles arrested A.A. (30) from Vinica on the Štip–Veles regional road, near the Mamutchево intersection. During a radar traffic control, officers determined that he was driving a Polo with Vinica license plates at a speed of 121 km/h in an area where the maximum permitted speed is 50 km/h.

After full documentation of the events, criminal charges will be filed under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code – “reckless driving of a motor vehicle.”

The Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, to drive responsibly and conscientiously, without the influence of alcohol and at speeds adapted to road conditions. Failure to comply with traffic rules directly endangers one’s own life, the safety of passengers, and the lives of other road users. Through responsible behavior and respect for regulations, we jointly contribute to increased safety and a reduction in traffic accidents.
