Janev from Ljubljana: Strengthening Cooperation Between the Macedonian and Slovenian Police

 

Today (27.05.2026) in Ljubljana, Republic of Slovenia, the Director of the Bureau of Public Security, Aleksandar Janev, as part of the study visit organized by the “EU Support for Rule of Law” project, paid a working visit to the Slovenian Police, where he held a meeting with the Director General of the Slovenian Police, Damjan Petrič.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two police forces, as well as on the challenges faced by modern security systems, with special emphasis on cross-border crime, illegal migration, terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, and cybercrime.

Particular attention was given to the exchange of information, joint operational activities, and building strong professional ties between the criminal police services, as an important prerequisite for successfully combating transnational and organized crime.

In the spirit of sincere friendship and mutual trust, the interlocutors also discussed the processes of digitalization and modernization of police services, as well as the continuous support that the Slovenian Police provides to the Macedonian Police through the sharing of experience, knowledge, and best practices.

Director Janev expressed gratitude for the sincere and continuous support that the Republic of Slovenia provides in the reform processes and alignment with European standards in the field of security.

The Macedonian and Slovenian police remain committed to joint work, partnership, and improving the safety and security of the citizens of both countries.
