During the past 24 hours, police officers across the country arrested 22 drivers for the criminal offence of reckless driving.
Of these, 13 drivers were caught operating a vehicle without holding a valid driver's licence: four in Skopje, four in Bitola, two in Vinica, and one each in Kumanovo, Kavadarci and Tetovo. One of these drivers was also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
In addition, two drivers each in Skopje and Kriva Palanka, and one driver each in Veles, Kumanovo, Štip and Strumica were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. One driver in Skopje was also arrested for operating an unregistered vehicle.
Upon completion of the investigations, appropriate criminal charges will be filed against all offenders.
The Ministry of Interior appeals to all road users to respect traffic laws and regulations, not to operate a vehicle without a valid driver's licence, while subject to a driving ban, or under the influence of alcohol, and to jointly contribute to safer roads for everyone.
