The Strumica Police Department filed a criminal complaint against J.T. (53) from Strumica on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “usury.” During the period from 2023 to 2025, the suspect exploited the difficult financial situation of individuals from Strumica by lending them money while arranging and charging disproportionately high interest rates for herself, thereby obtaining unlawful financial gain.
In several instances, a male individual borrowed money from her, but after he was unable to pay the interest, the suspect began issuing threats against his life and the lives of his immediate family members.
On February 26, 2026, the suspect arranged to meet the victim near her house. Police officers from the Strumica Police Department found a 100-euro banknote in her possession, which had previously been forensically processed.
