The Minister of Internal Affairs, Panche Toskoski, held a working meeting today with the Director of the Secretariat of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI), Albert Hani, where they discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation aimed at strengthening institutional capacities to prevent corruption.
The focus of the discussions was on training for the development of a National Risk Assessment of Corruption and the anti-corruption review of legislation in the field of internal affairs, highlighting North Macedonia's active role as a signatory to the International Agreement on Data Exchange for Asset Declaration Verification. It was emphasized at the meeting that our country serves as a leading example and reference point for countries that have yet to adopt this mechanism.
Minister Toskoski underscored the importance of a systematic approach in detecting and reducing corruption risks in the security sector, as well as the significance of regional cooperation and the exchange of experiences.
"The fight against corruption is one of our top priorities. By strengthening the integrity of institutions, enhancing the legislative framework, and utilizing modern risk assessment mechanisms, we are creating a system in which corruption becomes increasingly difficult, costly, and unprofitable. The support and expertise of RAI in this process play a significant role, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs remains strongly committed to developing effective and sustainable anti-corruption policies," stated Minister Toskoski.
The meeting also explored specific opportunities for future collaboration through joint activities, training, and projects aimed at strengthening preventive and repressive mechanisms in combating corruption.
