A criminal group involved in the crime of smuggling migrants has been dismantled, and a criminal report has been filed

On November 16, 2025, following prior operational intelligence, the National Unit for the Suppression of Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking, part of the Criminal Investigations Sector, Department for the Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime, in collaboration with the Department for Special and Tactical Operations and the Department of Criminal Police, under the guidance of a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for the Prosecution of Organized and Serious Crime, conducted a coordinated police operation to dismantle a criminal group involved in the crime of smuggling migrants.

Specifically, during the operation, in a place called Resuljka near the border line between Macedonia and Serbia, two improvised camps were discovered where eight illegal migrants were found, including two from Pakistan and six from Afghanistan, among whom were two children.

On the same day, the National Unit for the Suppression of Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking submitted a criminal report to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized and Serious Crime against Z.H. (20), J.D. (31), V.H. (34), A.Sh. (37), and a 15-year-old, all from Afghanistan, due to reasonable suspicion of committing the crime of "Migrant Smuggling" under Articles 418-a and 418-b of the Criminal Code.Specifically, the accused had, on several occasions, acted as guides, illegally transporting and sheltering a group of illegal migrants from Greece to the camps. After accommodating them in the improvised camps, Z.H. and J.D. used force and threats to extort money from the individuals in order to facilitate their further transfer to the territory of Serbia, with the ultimate destination being the countries of the European Union.
