During the course of yesterday (August 16/17, 2026), from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a targeted operation to sanction drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol throughout the state, resulting in 63 drivers being sanctioned. Among them, 12 were sanctioned in the territories of the Bitola and Kumanovo Police Departments, nine in the territories of the Veles and Ohrid Police Departments, and eight in the territory of the Kumanovo Police Department... The Mobile Unit for Road Safety sanctioned four drivers under the influence of alcohol.
Eight drivers were arrested under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code. During the control, 162 other types of offenses were also sanctioned.
Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We urge all participants in traffic to respect traffic rules and regulations and to collectively contribute to safer roads.
