The Ministry of Internal Affairs, after a months-long investigation, has dismantled an international criminal group involved in the transportation of marijuana.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Department of Criminal Police, in coordination with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption and within the framework of international cooperation with the relevant authorities from Kosovo and Greece, conducted a months-long investigation into an organized criminal group involved in the international trafficking of narcotic drugs.

On August 14, 2026, in Thessaloniki, a Macedonian and a Kosovo citizen were arrested, with 324 kilograms and 474 grams of marijuana seized, hidden within a shipment of recycled pressed paper.

As part of the investigation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs also undertook necessary actions on the territory of Macedonia, where the Department of Criminal Police, in coordination with a public prosecutor, carried out searches at multiple locations to secure material evidence and fully document the criminal activity. During the searches, mobile phones and documentation were confiscated, which are subject to further examination and analysis.

Following the investigation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs submitted a criminal report to the competent prosecutor's office against one individual, a Macedonian citizen.

Through these actions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs made a significant contribution to combating the international organized criminal group and securing evidence for the proceedings.
