During the night of August 21–22, 2026, from 18:00 to 01:00, the Traffic Safety Unit and general police stations within the Skopje Police Department conducted an intensified traffic control operation, with a particular focus on motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles and quadricycles.
A total of 262 drivers were sanctioned. Among motorcycle and moped riders, 102 measures were imposed: 93 for riding without a protective helmet, four for driving with an inappropriate category of licence, and five for driving without having passed a driving test. Another 160 measures were imposed for various other traffic violations, including failure to carry a driving licence or vehicle registration document, failure to display registration plates, running red lights, and other offences.
One motorcycle was temporarily confiscated because its registration had expired more than six months ago, while six people were detained under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
Traffic controls will continue over the coming days. We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations and contribute together to safer roads.
