Today (12 August 2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit at the Skopje SVR, the Prevention Section at the Veles SVR, the Kavadarci OVR and the Štip SVR carried out traffic safety preventive activities at several locations in Skopje, Kavadarci, Kočani, Vinica, Štip, Delčevo and Veles.
The activities focused on pedestrian safety, the importance of using seat belts, informing citizens about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving, as well as the obligation for motorcycle and electric scooter riders to wear protective helmets.
Pedestrians, as active participants in traffic, were reminded of their obligation to comply with traffic rules and regulations, to cross streets at designated pedestrian crossings, and to avoid using headphones and mobile phones while crossing. They were also advised to exercise increased caution, especially during evening hours when moving through poorly lit areas, along with a number of other recommendations aimed at improving their own safety and the safety of all other road users. Printed educational materials were also distributed as part of the preventive activities.
Police officers from the Berovo Police Station and the Gradsko Police Office carried out preventive activities aimed at fire prevention, during which citizens were reminded of the need for careful and responsible behaviour in order to reduce the risk of forest and open-space fires. Particular emphasis was placed on avoiding the lighting of fires, not discarding cigarette butts, and immediately reporting any fire by calling 112.
Printed educational materials prepared in cooperation with the public enterprise “National Forests” were also distributed, reminding citizens to comply with the ban on movement in forests, which is in effect until 31 August 2026.
Police officers from the Čaška Police Office, the Prevention Unit at the Skopje SVR and the Prevention Section at the Štip SVR also carried out preventive activities aimed at preventing theft. Citizens were informed about ways to protect themselves and increase the level of their personal and property security.
