Police officers recorded 1,621 traffic violations over the past three days; 43 persons detained for reckless driving

During the past three days (24/25/26 August 2026), as a result of regular traffic controls carried out by police officers from all Sectors for Internal Affairs on roads throughout the country, a total of 1,621 payment orders were issued, of which 456 violations were committed by drivers who failed to comply with the prescribed speed limits.

A total of 43 persons were detained for reckless driving, including two for driving under the influence of alcohol, 20 for driving without a valid driving licence, and two for driving despite a previously imposed driving ban.

During the same period, 19 vehicles were seized pursuant to Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.

Furthermore, according to the statistical overview of police activities, 385 violations for improper parking were recorded during the past three days, as well as 28 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.

On the other hand, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, 159 motorcycle riders were sanctioned for failing to wear protective helmets. A further 105 road users were sanctioned for failing to use seat belts. Pursuant to the Law on Vehicles, 17 vehicles were removed from traffic because they were unregistered, while seven were removed due to technical defects. Four drivers were also sanctioned for failing to comply with the prescribed requirements regarding the tinting of vehicle windows (films).

Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations and to jointly contribute to safer roads.
