Police officers from the Ministry of Interior participated in specialised ROADPOL training on detecting and preventing tachograph manipulation

Two police officers from the Mobile Road Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Interior participated in specialised ROADPOL training on detecting and preventing tachograph manipulation, held in Hasselt, Belgium.

The training was attended by 18 representatives of competent institutions from 13 European countries, including Macedonia, as well as a representative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). The training was organised by ROADPOL in cooperation with EuroControleRoute (ECR).

As part of the training, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in recognising the latest forms of tachograph manipulation and fraud, as well as in conducting more effective road transport inspections.

Compliance with driving rules and mandatory rest periods is essential for preventing fatigue among professional drivers and reducing road traffic risks. Detecting tachograph manipulation contributes to improving road safety, protecting all road users and ensuring fair competition in the transport sector.

The Traffic Affairs Sector continuously works to strengthen the professional capacities of police officers by supporting their professional development, participation in specialised training and exchange of experience with international partner organisations. Such activities contribute to strengthening the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Interior, improving road transport inspections and enhancing international cooperation, with the ultimate goal of achieving greater road safety.
