The Ministry of Interior is in the final phase of testing the automatic speed detection system - Safe City

Today, Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski visited a site where a final check and verification of the smart system for automatic detection of vehicle speed is being conducted, as part of the project to enhance traffic safety.

"This is a system that the Ministry of Interior has been developing over the past period with the aim of reducing traffic accidents, injuries, and lost lives. During the testing process, the clarity of the recordings, the accuracy of reading license plates, and the precision of the data recorded by the system are being verified. According to the experts involved in the verification, the identified deviations in speed measurement are minimal and significantly below the legally permitted tolerance, which guarantees high security and reliability of the system," emphasized Minister Toshkovski.

Minister Toshkovski highlighted that this system sets higher safety standards in traffic, and its goal is clear - fewer accidents, fewer injuries, and more saved lives.

In the first phase, the cameras will be activated at locations with increased risk, and throughout the year, the system will gradually expand across the entire country. Concurrently, vehicles from the Ministry of Interior equipped with mobile cameras will be deployed, particularly targeting the so-called "black spots" on the roads.

"The system operates automatically and impartially – the camera makes no distinction between people, but records violations. The law applies equally to all, and the safety of citizens is our top priority," emphasized the minister.

The Ministry of Interior stresses that the implementation of the system is already showing positive effects in terms of increased traffic discipline and reduced risks on the roads.
