Over the past 24 hours, at various locations across the country, police officers detained 21 drivers for committing the criminal offence of “reckless driving” under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
Of these, 14 were driving without having passed a driving test: B.S. (18), A.B. (20) and E.M. (21) from the Skopje area; B.F. (24), A.Ch. (19) and E.J. (28) from Skopje; T.T. (62) from Veles; B.A. (36) from the village of Melnica, Municipality of Chashka; A.Sh. (26) from Bitola; A.S. (18) from the Bitola area; H.R. (18) from Ohrid; N.M. (44) from the Valandovo area; A.I. (28) from the Tetovo area; and F.J. (24) from Tetovo.
S.K. (54) from Skopje, T.S. (68) from the Radovish area, and D.S. (41) from the Tetovo area were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, D.S. (32) from Kichevo, S.M. (32) and G.P. (42) from Skopje, and S.T. (55) from Kavadarci were detained for driving while an active driving ban was in effect.
Following the full documentation of the cases, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
We appeal to all road users to comply with traffic rules and regulations, not to drive without having passed a driving test, not to drive while subject to a driving ban, and never to drive under the influence of alcohol. Let us all contribute together to safer roads.
