During the past 24 hours, at various locations across the country, police officers detained 18 drivers for committing the criminal offence of “reckless driving” under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
Of them, 17 were driving without having passed a driving test: M.R. (19), B.F. (24), Dž.S. (24), F.S. (33), A.L. (25), S.B. (25) and G.Đ. (34), all from Skopje; Š.O. (31) from the village of Aračinovo, Skopje; A.R. (25) from the village of Batinci, Skopje; S.A. (33) from the village of Studeničani, Skopje; a 17-year-old from the village of Stajkovci, Skopje; S.A. (19) from the Tetovo area; R.B. (32) from Kumanovo; A.B. (24) from Kičevo; P.S. (38) from the Bitola area; a 15-year-old from Probištip; and P.Đ. (19) from Veles, who caused a traffic accident.
O.V. (27) from Makedonska Kamenica was also detained for driving under the influence of alcohol.
After the cases have been fully documented, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to drive a vehicle without having passed a driving test, not to drive if they have been issued a driving ban, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol. Let us all work together to contribute to safer road traffic.
