During the past 24 hours, police officers across the country deprived 16 drivers of their liberty for reckless operation of motor vehicles. Of these, 11 were driving without a valid driving licence, four were under the influence of alcohol, while one individual was driving under the influence of alcohol despite having an active driving ban.
Drivers from Skopje, Kumanovo, Gostivar, Krivogashtani, and Kochani were caught operating vehicles without a driving licence, while drivers from Vinica and Kochani were riding mopeds without possessing the appropriate licence category.
A driver from Makedonska Kamenica was found driving under the influence of alcohol. A driver from Debarca Municipality, who registered 1.99‰ blood alcohol content, also caused a traffic accident by crashing into a concrete planter. A motorcyclist from Kavadarci registered 2.03‰ blood alcohol content, while a moped rider from Kochani registered 1.88‰ blood alcohol content.
In addition, a driver from Prilep, who was found operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol with 2.45‰ blood alcohol content, was discovered during police checks to be subject to an active ban on driving motor vehicles.
Following the full documentation of the cases, appropriate criminal charges will be filed against all individuals involved.
The police appeal to all road users to respect traffic laws and regulations, not to drive without a valid driving licence, not to operate a vehicle while subject to a driving ban, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol, so that together we can contribute to safer roads for everyone.
