During the past 24 hours, at various locations across the country, police officers detained 10 drivers for committing the criminal offence of “reckless driving” under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
Of them, seven were driving vehicles without having passed a driving test: V.M. (19), Gj.J. (22), S.U. (36) and K.P.T. (45), all from Veles; a 17-year-old from the village of Morani, Skopje; a 16-year-old from Skopje; and a 15-year-old from the village of Prisojnica, Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe, who also caused a traffic accident.
In addition, official interviews were conducted, in the presence of a parent, with two minors from Veles because they were riding mopeds without a driving licence.
Two persons were driving vehicles despite active bans on driving motor vehicles: P.R. (61) from the village of Jakimovo, Vinica, and D.A. (33) from Skopje. Meanwhile, P.L. (70) from Kavadarci was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Following the complete documentation of the cases, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to drive without having passed a driving test, not to drive if they are subject to a driving ban, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol, so that together we can contribute to safer traffic.
