On February 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM in Strumica, police officers from the Strumica Police Department arrested J.T. (53) from Strumica. According to the report, in June 2025, she lent money amounting to 2,700 euros to a resident of a village near Strumica, for which she was now demanding an exorbitant repayment of 15,000 euros.
Specifically, yesterday the victim met with J.T. to pay her 100 euros, an amount she had designated as the monthly interest on the principal loan. At the moment he handed her the 100-euro banknote, which had been previously marked, J.T. was arrested. During the search, a marked 100-euro banknote, a notebook, and sheets of paper were found where she had recorded the amounts of money she had lent to individuals and the amounts that were supposed to be returned to her as interest.
Later, with a court order, a search was conducted at her home, where cash (in denars and euros), notarial documents, as well as notebooks and sheets on which she had recorded the amounts of money lent were found and seized. It was established that J.T. had lent money to individuals multiple times, and they were supposed to return an unjust amount that provided her with unlawful financial gain.
J.T. is being held at the Strumica Police Station, and the case has been reported to a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Strumica. After the case is fully documented, a criminal charge will be filed against her for the offense of "usury" under Article 260 of the Criminal Code.
