A driver from Ohrid has been detained after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene; following necessary measures, he was found and it was determined that he had 2.78 grams of alcohol per liter of blood

    
On April 13, 2026, at 4:05 PM, it was reported to the Ohrid Police Department that on "Klenovec" Street in Ohrid, a passenger vehicle "Opel" with Ohrid license plates, driven by Z.J. (52) from the village of Gorno Lakocerej, Ohrid, struck pedestrian A.N. (55) from the village of Svinishta, Ohrid, and left the scene of the incident.The pedestrian sustained serious bodily injuries, confirmed at the Special Hospital "St. Erasmus" in Ohrid. After measures were taken by police officers from the Ohrid Police Department, driver Z.J. was located and, by order of the public prosecutor, was detained, and the vehicle was seized; during checks, it was confirmed that Z.J. was under the influence of alcohol, with 2.78 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. It was also determined that A.N. had 1.34 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. An inspection was conducted by an investigative team from the Ohrid Police Department, and after the case is fully documented, an appropriate report will be submitted.
