Today (17 July 2026), at around 08:00, police officers from the North Border Regional Center, acting in accordance with the Operational Plan for the Prevention of Smuggling Across the State Border, observed several individuals transferring and exchanging goods near the border line between the villages of Tanuševci and Mijak.
The goods were being transferred between a Volkswagen cargo vehicle with Kosovo license plates and a Peugeot cargo vehicle with Skopje registration plates.
Police immediately took measures to stop the vehicles and identify the individuals involved. During the operation, A.A. (43) from Skopje, the driver of the Peugeot, was arrested, while the driver of the Volkswagen fled toward Kosovo.
Coordination was established with members of the Kosovo Police Task Force, who attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle. During the pursuit, the vehicle veered off the road.
Both vehicles were seized for further investigation. A public prosecutor has been notified, and following the completion of the investigation, appropriate charges will be filed.
