During the last two days (May 16/17, 2026), as a result of regular traffic controls conducted by police officers from all internal affairs sectors on the roads across the country, out of a total of 1,026 issued payment orders, 316 violations pertain to drivers who did not adhere to the prescribed speed limits.
Detained for reckless driving are 34 individuals, including nine for driving under the influence of alcohol, 24 for driving without a license, and one due to a previously imposed ban on operating a vehicle.
In the same period, 23 vehicles were confiscated under Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.
Furthermore, according to the statistical overview of police activities, during the past two days, 164 violations for improper parking were recorded, as well as 29 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On the other hand, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Act, 107 motorcycle riders were sanctioned for not wearing helmets, and five pedestrians were also penalized. Additionally, 99 road users were sanctioned for not using seat belts. According to the Vehicle Act, 15 vehicles were removed from traffic for being unregistered, and four due to technical malfunctions. Two drivers were also sanctioned for failing to meet the prescribed conditions regarding the tinting of vehicle windows (films).
