Over the past weekend, 13 individuals were arrested for reckless driving in accordance with Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, alongside 1,502 traffic violations

During the recent weekend (October 11/12, 2025), as a result of regular traffic checks conducted by police officers from all sectors of internal affairs across the country, a total of 1,502 payment orders were issued, with 958 violations pertaining to drivers who failed to adhere to the prescribed speed limits. 

Among those arrested for reckless driving under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code were 13 individuals, four of whom were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, four for speeding in populated areas, and five for exceeding the speed limit outside populated areas. 

Furthermore, according to the statistical overview of police activities, 97 violations for improper parking were recorded, 122 measures were imposed on drivers operating vehicles without a license, and 47 sanctions were issued for driving under the influence of alcohol.

On the other hand, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Act, five motorcyclists were sanctioned for not wearing helmets, and two pedestrians were also penalized. Additionally, 43 road users were sanctioned for not wearing seat belts. According to the Vehicle Act, 33 vehicles were removed from traffic for being unregistered, and three due to technical malfunctions. Five drivers were also sanctioned for failing to meet the prescribed conditions regarding window tinting (films).

Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We urge all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations and to collectively contribute to safer roads.
