Iseni at the MARRI diplomatic briefing: Regional cooperation is key to addressing migration and security challenges

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Astrit Iseni participated in and addressed the MARRI diplomatic briefing / Friends of MARRI, organized by the Regional Center MARRI and the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the MARRI Initiative.

In his address, Deputy Minister Iseni emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in managing migration, protecting borders, and tackling security challenges, stressing that no state can independently respond to contemporary threats.

"Our region faces migration pressures, security risks, and transnational crime. The response to these challenges cannot be isolated – constant regional coordination, information exchange, and joint building of institutional capacities are needed," Iseni highlighted.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as the host institution of the Regional Center MARRI since its establishment in 2004, remains strongly committed to supporting the initiative and enhancing regional security cooperation.

Iseni pointed out that the MARRI initiative plays a significant role as a regional bridge between institutions, international partners, and European organizations, particularly in terms of practical cooperation, building trust, and developing common solutions tailored to the needs of the region.

"Security today must be built on the basis of partnerships. Support from international partners, the diplomatic community, and organizations working in this field is of utmost importance for strengthening institutional capacities and creating sustainable solutions," the deputy minister emphasized.

In his address, Iseni expressed confidence that MARRI will continue to contribute to connecting institutions in the region, fostering practical cooperation, and moving closer to European standards and values in the future.
