On 29 July 2026, at 9:26 p.m., at the Smokvica interchange on the A1 motorway near Gevgelija, police officers from the Strumica Sector for Internal Affairs – Gevgelija Police Department arrested J.D. (29) from Gevgelija.
During a traffic speed control using radar, officers determined that J.D. was driving a BMW passenger vehicle with Gevgelija registration plates at 204 km/h in an area where the speed limit is 120 km/h.
The driver was removed from traffic, and the competent public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Gevgelija was informed of the incident.
After the case is fully documented, appropriate criminal charges will be filed under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code for "reckless driving of a motor vehicle."
