On June 8, 2026, the Director of the Bureau of Public Security, Aleksandar Janev, held a working meeting with representatives of the project team of the regional IPA project “EU Support to Strengthen the Fight Against Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking in the Western Balkans” (EU4FAST).
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the successful and continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Bureau of Public Security, and the EU4FAST project team in implementing activities aimed at strengthening institutional capacities and enhancing security.
Director Janev expressed appreciation for the support provided and the activities carried out within the framework of the project, emphasizing that the achieved results represent an example of effective international cooperation. He also highlighted the Bureau’s readiness to further deepen the partnership and implement new joint initiatives.
The participants jointly concluded that cooperation between the institutions is taking place at an exceptionally high level and will continue to develop in the future, with the goal of strengthening security and improving the effectiveness of efforts to combat organized crime, migrant smuggling, and human trafficking in the Western Balkans.
