Today (07.06.2026), between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the Mobile Road Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector and the Traffic and Escort Security Department carried out a traffic enforcement operation in the city of Kumanovo, aimed at sanctioning electric scooter riders who fail to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
During the operation, a total of 70 measures were imposed for traffic violations and criminal offenses. These included:
- 9 measures against electric scooter riders;
- 2 measures for motorcycles with expired registration documents;
- 39 measures for riders operating motorcycles without a protective helmet;
- 1 measure for driving under the influence of alcohol;
- 1 measure for an expired insurance policy;
- 3 measures for operating a vehicle without the appropriate license category;
- 3 measures for failure to carry or renew a driver's license;
- 8 measures for vehicles without displayed registration plates.
During the operation, one motorcycle was seized due to a registration that had not been renewed for more than six months.
Police also detected four criminal offenses, three involving minors riding motorcycles. Additionally, one person was arrested for committing the criminal offense of “reckless driving of a motor vehicle” under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
As part of the measures taken, three motorcycles and one quad bike were seized.
Appropriate legal actions have been initiated against all offenders.
Traffic enforcement operations will continue in the coming period. Authorities appeal to all road users to strictly comply with traffic laws and regulations. Only through responsible behavior can we collectively contribute to safer roads.
