Today (May 13, 2026) in Pristina, the Director of the Bureau for Public Safety, Aleksandar Janev, leads the Macedonian team at the regional strategic meeting organized and supported by the law enforcement agencies of the United Kingdom, a platform that serves as a strong example of partnership, trust, and a shared commitment to the security of the region.
The focus of today’s discussions is directed towards the challenges arising from illegal migration, cross-border crime, organized transnational criminal networks, and illegal financial flows, phenomena that directly impact national criminal structures and the security of states in the region.
In this regard, discussions were held on enhancing information exchange, joint analyzes, coordinated field activities, and creating mechanisms that will enable timely prediction, detection, prevention, and proactive suppression of criminal occurrences.
Significant conclusions are expected to be adopted, along with proposed new regional initiatives and operational models of cooperation that will further strengthen the collective preparedness and resilience of the institutions.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Director Janev also held a bilateral meeting with the newly appointed Director of the Albanian Police, during which the commitment to continue and enhance cooperation in all aspects of police work was reaffirmed. Special emphasis was placed on the upcoming summer season, aiming to facilitate a faster and more efficient flow of citizens through border crossings.
“Our vision remains clear – open, strong, and sincere regional cooperation that will contribute to the prevention and suppression of crime, timely detection and dismantling of criminal networks, and the creation of a safer and more stable region for all citizens,” emphasized Director Janev.
