On 26 May 2026 at 06:30 a.m. at the Demir Kapija toll station on the Gevgelija–Negotino highway, police officers from the Mihajlovo Border Surveillance Police Station deprived A.G. (42) and G.G. (39), both from Kosovo, of their liberty.
Previously, police officers had stopped a “Volkswagen Transporter” with Kosovo registration plates, driven by A.G., and a “Škoda Octavia” with Kosovo registration plates, driven by G.G. During the inspection, seven migrants from Egypt were found in the “Volkswagen” vehicle, while it was established that the “Škoda” vehicle was acting as an escort vehicle.
A public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption was informed about the incident. Criminal charges under Article 418-b of the Criminal Code were filed against the Kosovo nationals, and a 30-day detention measure was ordered against them.
They were transferred to the Skopje Prison Correctional Facility to serve the detention measure, while the migrants were accommodated at the Reception Center for Asylum Seekers in Vizbegovo, Skopje.
