The Director of the Public Security Bureau, Aleksandar Janev, Addressed an Event Dedicated to the Fight Against Counterfeiting, Piracy and Illegal Trade

Today (21.05.2026), the Director of the Public Security Bureau, Aleksandar Janev, addressed an event dedicated to the fight against counterfeiting, piracy and illegal trade, organized by REACT, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Customs Administration and the State Market Inspectorate.

In his address, Director Janev emphasized that counterfeit products today represent not only economic damage, but also a serious security, financial and institutional challenge, which is increasingly spreading through digital tools, online platforms and modern channels of illegal trade.

“As institutions, it is our obligation to ensure the safety and protection of citizens. This is especially important when it comes to counterfeit medicines, cosmetics, children’s toys, auto parts, electronics and other products that directly affect the health, safety and trust of consumers. Citizens must be confident that when they pay for quality and originality, they receive a safe and verified product,” Director Janev stressed.

He underlined that a joint approach, as well as timely exchange of information, knowledge and experience among institutions and international partners, are crucial for more efficient prevention, detection and suppression of this phenomenon.

“The fight against counterfeiting is a fight to protect citizens, the legal economy, the fair market and trust in the system,” the Director of the Public Security Bureau emphasized.

At the end of the address, gratitude was expressed to REACT and to all institutions and partners for the successful cooperation so far, their professionalism and shared commitment to building a stronger and more efficient system in tackling this type of crime and related phenomena.
