During the past 24 hours, police officers across the country detained six drivers for reckless operation of motor vehicles.
In Skopje, two drivers were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol. One was operating a moped and was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 1.85‰, while the other was driving a passenger vehicle with the same alcohol level and caused a traffic accident by crashing into a metal fence.
In Debar, the driver of a passenger vehicle was detained after it was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a measured blood alcohol concentration of 2.75‰. He caused a traffic accident and physically assaulted police officers while they were carrying out official duties.
In Kruševo, a driver was caught operating a vehicle without possessing a valid driver's license, while in Makedonska Kamenica it was established that a driver was operating a passenger vehicle despite being subject to an active driving ban. In Skopje, another driver was detained for operating an unregistered vehicle without a driver's license.
Following the full documentation of the incidents, appropriate criminal charges will be filed against all individuals involved.
The Ministry of Interior appeals to citizens to consistently comply with traffic rules and regulations. Driving under the influence of alcohol, without a driver's license, or in violation of legal restrictions directly endangers road safety and may have serious consequences for the lives and health of all road users.
