No fireworks for safer holidays!

No fireworks for safer holidays!

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to refrain from using pyrotechnic devices during the New Year celebrations. Firecrackers are not toys; their use is strictly prohibited, and holiday firing of firecrackers can be extremely dangerous to life and health, leaving devastating consequences that can seal a young person's fate. Firecrackers are dangerous and harmful.

The activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the fight against pyrotechnics are ongoing, with increased intensity before and around the holidays, considering the seasonal nature of pyrotechnics, all aimed at raising awareness among the youth, as well as their parents, emphasizing that firecrackers are not toys but dangerous devices that can cause irreparable and lasting harm to the health of young people.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also conducts action controls to sanction the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices and reminds citizens of the legal provisions that sanction the use of pyrotechnic devices and their illegal sale.

Thus, the Law on Offenses Against Public Order and Peace in Article 31 provides for a fine for anyone who unlawfully uses pyrotechnic devices. According to the Criminal Code, Article 396 addresses the illegal production, possession, and trade of weapons or explosive materials, stating that:
(1) Anyone who unlawfully produces, possesses, sells, acquires, or exchanges firearms, ammunition, or explosive materials shall be punished with imprisonment for three to ten years;
(2) If the subject of the offense in paragraph 1 involves a larger quantity of firearms, ammunition, or explosive materials, or firearms, ammunition, or explosive materials that are prohibited to citizens, the perpetrator shall be punished with at least five years of imprisonment.

The Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with partners from non-governmental organizations and other institutions, continues its activities in this direction, and once again we urge that pyrotechnic devices not be used.

We also appeal to parents not to buy fireworks for their children, as this can lead to tragic consequences. We urge citizens to respect the legal regulations and cooperate with the police. Any disturbances of public order and peace should be reported to the police station or through the phone numbers 192 or 112.
