Yesterday (27.07.2026), between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., a nationwide traffic enforcement operation was carried out across the Republic of North Macedonia, targeting violations committed by motorcyclists and electric scooter riders. During the operation, 178 motorcyclists were sanctioned.
Of these, 156 riders were fined for not wearing a protective helmet, while 13 drivers were deprived of their liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, as all of them were driving without a valid driver's license. In addition, five motorcycles were seized due to expired registration and excessive noise.
A total of 11 electric scooter riders were also sanctioned, including five for failing to wear a reflective vest while riding in conditions of reduced visibility, contrary to Article 103-g.
During the operation, police also recorded and sanctioned 130 other types of traffic violations.
Traffic enforcement activities will continue in the coming days. We urge all road users to respect traffic laws and regulations so that, together, we can contribute to safer roads for everyone.
