On May 23, 2026, the Crisis Management Center received a report from A.M. that his fellow hiker A.S. (33) from Skopje had an accident near the Korab Waterfall, in the municipality of Mavrovo-Rostuše, sustaining a hip fracture and leg injuries. Due to the inaccessible terrain at an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters, a rescue team was formed, consisting of representatives from the "Mavrovo" National Park, Emergency Medical Services, and police officers from the Mavrovo Police Department, who set out for the site from the village of Žužnje at 3:50 PM.
At 11:10 PM, the injured A.S. was successfully brought down to the village of Žužnje, from where he was transferred to the hospital in Gostivar for further treatment.
