Yesterday (April 19, 2026) at 6:50 PM on the Gostivar - Tetovo road, police officers from the Mobile Traffic Safety Unit of the Traffic Department, with the assistance of a special interceptor vehicle from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, measured the speed of a passenger vehicle, a "Mercedes," with Gostivar license plates at 178 kilometers per hour outside an urban area where the maximum allowed speed is 80 kilometers per hour.
The vehicle was confiscated, and the driver, K.I. (44) from Gostivar, will face the legally prescribed sanction in accordance with the provisions of Articles 297-a and 300-b of the Criminal Code. Traffic controls with special interceptor vehicles will continue in the upcoming period across the entire country, aimed at sanctioning offenders, increasing safety, and protecting participants in traffic.
Operating vehicles at speeds exceeding the prescribed limit is one of the main causes of traffic accidents, which often result in severe consequences for the health and lives of citizens.
