Search in Skopje – Turkish and Uzbek nationals detained for forgery of residence permits and other official documents

On October 21, 2025, at 01:30 a.m., police officers from the Department for Cross-Border Crime, Migration, Foreigners and Readmission Skopje within the Regional Center for Border Affairs North, together with officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit at the Skopje Police Department, detained A.Z. (30), Z.A. (26), E.S.O. (20) and A.U. (51), all from Turkey, and N.A.T. (39) and A.D.M.U. (27), both from Uzbekistan, on suspicion of committing a misdemeanor under Article 212 of the Law on Foreigners and a criminal offense under Article 378 of the Criminal Code.

During a search conducted with a court warrant in the residence of A.Z. in the area of Čair, where the other five persons were also found staying without residence permits, police discovered and seized several residence permits issued in the names of other persons, money in various currencies and denominations, seals from private companies and state institutions suspected to be forged, laptop computers, Turkish passports issued in other persons’ names, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activity.

The individuals were detained at the police station, and after the case is fully documented, appropriate charges will be filed against them.
