Today (26.01), the Director of the Bureau of Public Security, Aleksandar Janev, together with the Director of the Customs Administration, Boban Nikolovski, officially opened the Regional Program for Certification of Service Dogs for Product Odors – 2026.
The program is implemented within the framework of the project “Support to the National Authorities of the Republic of North Macedonia in Reducing the Risk of Proliferation and Misuse of Small Arms and Light Weapons,” with the aim of strengthening national capacities for the prevention and suppression of various forms of crime.
Today’s event marks the beginning of the second training conducted as part of the Regional Program for Certification of Product Odors – 2026. Thanks to the continuous support of our partners from the OSCE Mission, as well as the expert support from FRONTEX, participants have the opportunity to upgrade their existing knowledge and practical skills in the field of working with police service dogs.
Through the multi-agency approach supported by the OSCE, a significant investment is being made in strengthening institutional cooperation and improving capacities for timely detection and prevention of various types of criminal activities, thereby contributing to increased security and stability in the region.
