Do not open suspicious links and messages and do not share personal data

The Ministry of Interior informs the public that in the recent period there has been an increase in phishing attacks carried out through fake SMS messages, emails, websites, and messages on social networks. These messages usually appear to come from trusted sources such as banks, state institutions, or reputable companies, but their purpose is to deceive users and obtain their personal or financial data.

The most common are fake SMS messages about delivered postal packages, with the main goal being to collect the recipient’s personal data or to force them to visit a fake website where, by entering their personal information, additional misuse may occur. During the past year, more than 50 reports of this type of fraud have been submitted to the Cybercrime Sector.

We appeal to citizens to be cautious when using the internet, not to open suspicious links and messages, never to share personal data such as bank card numbers, passwords, or personal identifiers through unauthorized channels, to check the sender’s address – official institutions and companies use official domains – to use two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional account protection, and to report suspicious messages to the competent institutions or their bank.

The Cybercrime Sector at the Ministry of Interior continues with active investigations and takes measures to detect and sanction perpetrators of this type of fraud.
