During the past 24 hours, at various locations across the country, police officers detained 21 drivers and conducted an official interview with one person due to the commission of the criminal offense of “reckless driving” under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
Of those detained, 11 persons were driving without having passed a driving test: N.M. (41) from the village of Saraj, Skopje; A.R. (25) from the village of Batinci, Skopje; H.Š. (35) from the village of Negotino, Gostivar; a 16-year-old from the village of Viduše, Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostuše; A.S. (31) from the village of Kovač, Municipality of Makedonski Brod; A.D. (32) from the village of Korošishta, Struga; Ć.S. (62) from Gradsko; E.J. (27), E.D. (43) and N.J. (22), all from Skopje, with N.J. also driving at a speed exceeding the permitted limit.
In addition, police officers from the Probishtip Police Department, in the presence of a parent, conducted an official interview with a 16-year-old from the village of Prikovci, Kratovo, because he was riding a moped without a driving licence.
Ten persons were driving under the influence of alcohol: D.D. (39) from the Kumanovo area; S.K. (40) from the village of Injevo, Radovish; G.I. (31) from the village of Dulica, Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica; O.V. (27) from Makedonska Kamenica; M.U. (44) from Kichevo; D.M. (24) from the village of Brvenica, Tetovo; Z.S. (54) from Skopje; N.Z. (64) from Bitola; A.N. (46) from Prilep; and S.J. (66) from the village of Selce, Prilep.
Meanwhile, V.D. (37) from Makedonski Brod was driving a passenger motor vehicle while subject to an active ban on driving a Category B vehicle.
Following the complete documentation of the cases, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to drive without having passed a driving test, while under a driving ban, or under the influence of alcohol, and to work together to contribute to safer road traffic.
