The Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations, and Professional Standards at the Ministry of Internal Affairs has submitted a criminal complaint to the competent Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for the prosecution of organized crime and corruption—specialized department for prosecuting criminal acts committed by individuals with police authority and members of prison police—against Z.R., a police officer from the Border Control Police Station in Čaška, due to reasonable suspicion of committing the crime of "causing general danger" under Article 288, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code.
Specifically, on May 22, 2026, the reported police officer, in the yard of his family home during a family celebration, fired multiple shots from a firearm in the presence of numerous guests, thereby endangering the life and bodily integrity of those present.
The Department of Internal Control, Criminal Investigations, and Professional Standards will propose the initiation of proceedings to determine responsibility for violating work order and discipline against Z.R. and will impose mandatory measures as well as removal from the workplace until the disciplinary proceedings are concluded—suspension.
