The National Unit for Combating Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking within the Criminal Investigation Sector of the Department for the Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime has submitted a criminal complaint against F.A. (63), G.K. (57), I.S. (35), J.S. (35), all from Skopje, as well as against S.J. (35) from Kumanovo and I.A. (38) from Tetovo due to reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal act of "child trafficking."During 2024 and 2025, F.A. and G.K. committed the act through the illegal adoption of a newborn baby.Specifically, F.A., using her position as a foster caregiver, established contacts with interested couples.Meanwhile, G.K., following their prior agreement and in order to avoid the adoption procedure according to the Family Law, exploited their pregnancy, severe financial, and social circumstances. Namely, because they were unable to care for their newborn children, she misled the parents and convinced them to proceed with an illegal adoption of their newborn baby for a certain monetary compensation and other benefits. In this way, they managed to convince S.J., who was living in a common-law relationship with her unmarried partner I.A., to agree to an illegal adoption of their newborn baby in exchange for financial assistance of 500 euros and free gynecological examinations. After being discharged from the hospital, S.J. and her baby were taken in by F.A. and transported to their home, where the accused I.S. and J.S. arrived and, acting as "adoptive parents," took the baby and brought it to their home. In relation to the aforementioned, on October 17, 2025, a loan agreement of 500 euros was concluded between J.S. as the lender and I.A. as the borrower, which was paid to I.A. on the same day as compensation for the illegal adoption of their baby.
A preliminary judge has imposed house arrest on the individuals involved.
