The Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has filed criminal charges with the competent Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption – Specialized Department for the Prosecution of Criminal Offenses Committed by Persons with Police Powers and Prison Police Officers, against D.S. on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “accepting a bribe” under Article 357 of the Criminal Code.
The reported individual, employed as a police officer at the Qafasan Border Crossing Police Station, initiated communication with a person through a social network and directly requested money for himself in order to perform an official act that he was not authorized to perform. Specifically, he agreed that on April 5, 2026, while carrying out his duties at the border crossing, he would allow the person and the passenger motor vehicle he was driving to leave the country, despite the fact that the vehicle was not owned by the driver, the driver did not possess a power of attorney, and the vehicle was registered as stolen on the “stop list” in the passenger and vehicle control system.
The Internal Control Department will also submit a proposal to initiate disciplinary proceedings against D.S. for violations of work order and discipline and will impose a mandatory measure – suspension from duty until the completion of the disciplinary procedure.
