The Director of the Bureau for Public Safety at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Janev, today conducted a working visit to the police departments in Zajas and Oslomej, as well as the Police Station in Kicevo, where he met with the police officers who carry out their duties daily on the streets and in the field.
The focus of the visit was the role of the police during the pre-election period and on election day itself, as well as the principles of operation and conduct for police officers, not only during this sensitive time but also in their everyday work. During the meetings, discussions were held regarding the conditions, challenges, and opportunities faced by police officers, as well as the future reorganization of the Ministry and the Bureau for Public Safety.
Director Janev emphasized that there is no place for violence, crime, or unethical or unprofessional conduct. "The police are one of the most important links in the system – an institution that must responsibly guarantee safety, enforce the law, and ensure that every citizen can freely exercise their democratic right to vote. "All of this depends on each individual, on every police officer, on all stakeholders," Janev pointed out.
At the same time, a clear message was sent to the police officers in the region that the police are not here to rule, but to serve the citizens.
