On 08 January 2026 at 5:30 p.m., a 77-year-old resident of Vinica reported to the Vinica Police Station that he had been defrauded by an unknown person of more than 430,000 denars. According to the report, earlier that day the person called him by phone, introduced himself as a doctor, and informed him that his daughter was in hospital due to a broken leg and that surgery with the implantation of metal rods was required.
As reported, the caller requested money, and after reaching an agreement, the victim delivered the money to the agreed location on several occasions. After returning home, his daughter called him, at which point he realized that he had been defrauded.
Measures are being taken to identify the perpetrator and to fully clarify the case.
