During the past month, as a result of regular traffic controls conducted by police officers from all internal affairs sectors across the country's roads, a total of 16,885 misdemeanor tickets were issued. Of these, 4,473 violations involved drivers exceeding the prescribed speed limit, 3,851 were for illegal parking, and 920 were for using a mobile phone while driving.
Regarding offenses under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code – “reckless driving of a motor vehicle” – authorities sanctioned 70 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 241 drivers for driving without a valid driver's license, and 33 drivers for operating a vehicle despite a previously imposed driving ban. During the same period, 238 vehicles were seized under Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.
In addition, under the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, 1,281 motorcyclists were sanctioned for not wearing a protective helmet, while 295 pedestrians were also fined for violations. Furthermore, 1,584 road users were sanctioned for failing to wear a seat belt.
Under the Law on Vehicles, 240 vehicles were removed from traffic because they were unregistered, while 83 vehicles were excluded from traffic due to technical defects. Authorities also sanctioned 55 drivers for failing to comply with regulations concerning vehicle window tinting.
Traffic enforcement activities will continue in the coming days. Authorities urge all road users to respect traffic laws and regulations and to contribute jointly to safer roads for everyone.
